I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

'She's the tightrope walker and he's the street below'

music: Epicure- Tightrope Walker
I forgot about that song. I really do like it.

I got a haircut today, nothing majorly different but i like it.

It's school holidays. I survived my first term of school (barely). From all reports though, i'm not alone in this feeling.

I'm in a strange mood today and i can't quite put my finger on why that is. I feel like writing lots but can't organise my thoughts into logical statements so i'll keep them to myself.

KFC ads really just make me want to kick someone in the shin. I havn't quite decided if it the person who comes up with them or the people that act in them. The latest one seems to claim that having three plastic tubes with pictures of the Australian cricket team on them is actually better to have on your team than three girls. Yeah, screw you KFC.

And now, on a slightly lighter note, 2006 in review because maybe one day in the distant future i'll sit down and think 'Now what did i achieve in 2006?' And then realise that this quiz is pretty lacking in its information.

1)Where did you begin 2006?
---At Amplifier, really annoyed because the band sucked and they played straight through the countdown so we had our own one out next to some pot plants. The friends and the drinking and dancing was good fun.

2) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
A happy little relationship monkey.

3) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
---Why yes, yes i was. Pre Primary in fact...teaching.

4) How did you earn your money?
---Working in an Afterschool/vacation care and at The Cheesecake Shop

5) Did you have to go to the hospital?
---Nope.

6) Did you have any encounters with the police?
---A booze bus encounter and a random 'we want to inspect every centimeter of your crappy car' pullover. Both ended with me driving off quite happily.

7) Where did you go on holiday?
--- Sydney with the family to see my sister and Melbourne with Ben to go see The Eels.

8) What did you purchase that was over $1000?
---Absolutely nothing.

9) Did you know anybody who got married?
--- No. However my brother and his girlfriend got engaged after about 10 years and 3 kids together.

10) Did you know anybody who passed away?
---Yes.

11) Have you run into anybody you left high school with?
---Of course!

12) Did you move anywhere?
---No.

13) What sporting events did you go to?
---I really can't remember, football maybe?

14) What concerts/shows/festivals did you go to?
---Heaps which i'm too lazy to put here. The eels being the wonderful exception.

15) Are you registered to vote?
---Yes.

16) Who did you want to win Big Brother?
---I could not care less.

17) Where do you live now?
---Wembley. As i have done for the past 20 years. Oh how i love it.

18) Describe your birthday.
---It was a normal Claire birthday. ie. nothing major.

19) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006?
---Be with someone who could make me so unbelievably happy and comfortable around.

20) What has been your favorite moment?
---There have been far too many.

21.) What's something you learned about yourself?
---If i put my mind to it, most things can be achieved.

22.) Any new additions to your family?
---My little niece, Natalie.

23.) What was your best month?
---Probably around July, when i went to Sydney and Melbourne

24.) What music will you remember 2006 by?
---Anything by the Magnetic Fields.

25) Who has been your best drinking buddy?
---Ben.

26) Made new friends?
---Yes, and i love them all to pieces.

27) Best new friend?
---I think they are all wonderful.

28) Favorite Night out?
---The one that involved much hilarity. ie. Most of them.

29) Any regrets?
---No.

30)Has this been your best year yet?
---For sure.

music: The Eels- Things the grandchildren should know
I do some stupid things
But my heart's in the right place
And this i know

Since when did time become so scarce. The days of skipping home from primary school and playing out in the street with friends, climbing trees, pretending we were far away from here. The days of crazyness during high school, icecream eating, singing and pointless car journeys.

Those endless hours are all but gone. Now there is the responsibility of life sitting square on our shoulders. Work, Uni, Bills, Life. I have never been one to juggle my time well and as i begin to see some of my friends less and less it frightens me. I love them so dearly but our commitments are always looming there. I feel guilt when i know i should be working on an assignment and i feel guilt that i should be seeing my friends.

I understand as we move through our lives people come and go. But sometimes there are a special few that i just don't want to let go. I won't let them go.

I got a dog
I take him for a walk
And all the people like to say hello
I'm used to staring down at the sidewalk cracks
I'm learning how to say hello
Without too much trouble
